SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL CONDITIONING

Darran Hall’s Speed, Agility and Strength Training Workout

Who: Spring Sport Athletes to prepare their bodies to perform at a higher level!

When: Workouts will be offered starting November 16th and through Thanksgiving Break if you son or daughter wants to attend. They will love them!

Official Workouts begin:

-Monday, November 30 from 3:00-4:00 at High School Football Field (to the side of the field) and every Monday following.

-Wednesday, December 2 from 2:30-3:30 at High School Football Field, and every Wednesday following.

-Saturday, December 5th from 9:00-10:00 am at High School Football Field and every Saturday following.

Cost is $10 per session or $20 per week, getting third workout free. (Prefer checks at the beginning of the month payable to Darran Hall so kids don’t need to worry about remembering their money, and they will commit to the workout having already paid for it.)

Why: Darran Hall will help your son or daughter build confidence, core strength, agility, and speed. He will help reduce injuries, improve their ability to cover more ground on the baseball/softball field, improve core strength for hitting and throwing, and improve focus by being in the best shape of their lives! This will also help the coaches spend less time on conditioning and more time on fundamentals. Darran’s workouts will bond the baseball and softball players with mutual respect and help them see with hard work brings rewards. The kids will be able to feel the fruits of their labor during their season, and the workouts are being offered right after school, to make it easier to fit into their schedules. Softball and Baseball are the first teams we are trying this on, so we encourage you to motivate your kids to participate.

WHO IS DARRAN HALL?

Darran graduated from Lincoln High School and was a 7th round draft pick in baseball for the Cincinnati Reds. He played 3 years for the Reds organization and decided to go back to school and get his degree.

He then went to Grossmont College, played football for them and received a scholarship after his first year to Colorado State University. He competed for CSU and was fortunate to come to San Diego and play in the Holiday Bowl where he was voted MVP of the Holiday Bowl!

After graduating from CSU, he was drafted in the 5th round by the Tennessee Titans and played 4 years in the NFL and 2 years in the CFL.

After leaving football he received his Masters in Exercise Science and was inducted to the San Diego Hall of Fame.

Darran trains kids at Mt. Carmel, Poway, West View, and Rancho Bernardo. He is VERY EXCITED to work with our kids here in Coronado. He is an excellent role model, humble, motivating, and can demonstrate the exercises like a gazelle!! He will gently push your kids and take them to an athletic level they have never seen.

Endorsements or people who have worked out with Darran:

Coach Sam Ceci, Ryan and Susie Keeney, Kyle and Derek Teachout, Jaimie and Katie Centeno, Jake Meloche, Cissy and Dane Farguson, Kim Corpus, Annie Lovering, Ryan Herrmann, Marcos and Dan Cepin to name a few. Call us if you have questions.

GREEN FIELD HAS A WORKING SCOREBOARD!

After waiting many months for plans and inspectors to approve the installation of the donated scoreboard at Green Field, it passed the final inspection last week, and the newly installed and repainted board lit up perfectly when CHS Softball head coach Tony Isabella tested the controls himself.

Part of the crew who made this new addition to CHS' softball field possible got together yesterday afternoon to give the board an initial trial run. CUSD representative Larry Scott, Jay Kruer, CHS JV coach , as well as the Valle Family, donors of the scoreboard, were on hand to test the remote scoring controls.

A sincere thank you to the many folks who helped make this a reality for both CMS and CHS softball programs: Ken Kaminski, Sam Ceci, CUSD Assistant Superintendent Randy Allen, Jim Mazurkiewicz, and John Ovrom. Plans are in the works for a formal lighting of the board in the fall.
