PROGRESS REPORT ON SCORE BOARD INSTALLATION

The work continued Monday on the installation of underground electrical wires to power the score board at Green Field.
A lone workman at the site told me an inspector would be by that afternoon, or Tuesday, to approve the work done so far. After this, the dirt can be moved back into the trench.
Let's hope this will be done in time for Thursday's CHS Varsity Softball home game.

WORK STARTED ON SOFTBALL SCOREBOARD

As promised, the work to install the scoreboard at Green Field begun in earnest this week. Trenching for electrical power can be seen around the perimeter of the field, and, I am happy to report, CUSD workers have been at it consistently for two days.

Estimated time to light up the scoreboard is in another week and a half. Let's hope we don't run into any snags...

CUSD RESCUES GREEN FIELD SCOREBOARD

Members of CUSD met with John Ovrom, Ken Kaminsky and Suzette Valle on Friday, 3/13, and the school district decided to take over the installation of the new scoreboard at Green Field.

After months of negotiations with donors to get the board operational, the CUSD stepped in at the last minute and agreed to hoist the board on it's own base, and light it up in time for the CHS softball season. Randy Allen and Larry Scott said new code requirements needed to be met, and they would try to have it ready in approximately two weeks.

SOS: Save Our Scoreboard! Green Field finally has a scoreboard, needs power

The power of parents is at work again, but we need your help! We are looking for an electrician who can donate their time and talents (or if you know someone who can do this) to provide electrical power to the newly-installed Islander Girls Softball scoreboard at Green Field. Alternativley, we would accept a donation to cover the cost for this service.

The long-awaited scoreboard is the result of collaborative efforts between Alex and Suzette Valle, who donated the scoreboard now installed a top the batting cage at Green Field; John Ovrom, who donated his time and energy to install the green beauty; Ken Kaminsky, former CHS Softball Booster President who coordinated the transportation of the 300 lb ball counter and also found Kraig Nicolls, of Nicolls Designs, who re-painted the used scoreboard and helped with the installation. All this was accomplished at no cost to CUSD, CHS or ISF.

The CHS girls' softball season starts next week, and it would be equally exciting to be able to inaugurate the scoreboard on the same day! Present and future generations of Coronado high and middle school softball players will benefit from a working scoreboard.

If you can help our youth and community with this final step to illuminate the scoreboard at Green Field, please contact any one of the following people to make arrangements:
