CMS Pelicans had an outstanding season. The girls won every meet, with 6th grader Irlanda Goulding consistently being the top Coronado contender and the top girl finisher among all teams three times. We had a number of girls who were always high in the standings, including Taylor Ramos (7th), Sierra Smith (7th) Ashley Engelman (8th), and Hope Newman (6th).
The boys had an excellent season as well, coming up from the mid-ranks to win their last two meets. Jason Vance (8th) was the top finisher for Coronado on five occasions and first among all teams twice; and 7th grader Jake Christenson was close behind, being the top Coronado contender twice and always high in the standings. Other strong runners for Coronado included 6th grader Robbie Hemp and 8th grader Daren Owen.
Many student athletes pursued and met personal goals, enjoying improvement throughout. The entire team showed a lot of camaraderie and sportsmanship… a good time was had by all!
Our sincere thanks go to coaches Brian Schumyer and Leah Jackson for guiding the Pelicans through a very successful and fun season.
